Feature Friday: Alternative Apparel
We enjoy highlighting one of many unique brands in our "Feature Friday" blog posts.
In 1995, a man named Greg Alterman had a mission: to create the perfect t-shirt and in 2007, that mission was accomplished in the form of Alternative Earth (now Alternative Apparel). Its offerings include apparel for both men and women as well as accessories.
The company not only makes soft t-shirts, but it's also a proponent social change through responsible business practices. Alternative Apparel works to help consumers make socially responsible decisions by providing soft, simple, and sustainable clothes. Fabric innovation constitutes a big portion of the ideology behind the company with sustainable fabrics constituting 65% of its offerings. The dyes used on the eco-fabrics are natural, non-toxic, and low-impact and the company's special G2 Eco-Wash finished garments with 60% less water and no chemicals.
If being extremely eco-friendly isn't enough, Alternative Apparel, like us here at Fortress of Inca, works to provide fair and safe labor conditions for its workers. Its factories are in accordance with the Fair Labor Association Workplace Code of Conduct and many are also certified by Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production. Talk about making a change!
